Bennett's 1st Birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BENNETT!
NOVEMBER 30, 2013
We started the day off with donuts. Yep. Soooo good.
It was a chill day. We ran a couple of errands, got some lunch at cookout, and had a simple dinner and cupcakes at home! It was fun to have Grammy and Papa with us for Bennett's big day. Daddy had finals and graduation coming up, so he had to study for part of the day and we missed him, but he joined in for all of the evening festivities.
Of course no birthday would be complete without balloons. And this kid LOVES balloons.
 This kid loves french fries.
This picture really has nothing to do with his birthday, other than that  it was taken on his birthday. But it's hilarious.
Cupcake time!
Derick helped him take the first bite, because he wasn't quite sure how to "tackle" it.
And then he was all in.
And he held on to that cupcake for dear life.
After a bunch of the frosting, he was done.
Present time! He got a soft football from Lincoln, a little tee-ball toy from us, and some little blocks form Grammy and Papa.
We just love our little one-year-old to pieces!! He has such an adorable personality and keeps us laughing.

November

On November 1st, Derick and I were able to attend the opening night of the new Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech. It was exciting to be able to go to the first show ever there! Plus, the building is beautiful. The performance was by the Phillip Glass Ensemble. I will have to say that it was a very strange performance, but it was fun to get out and have date night. Afterwards, we went to get some frozen yogurt.
Bennett decided to help himself to some potato chips.
More park time. The boys love these big rocks. Lincoln was also feeling adventurous on the slide.
Super tired when we went to Target one day. I think the cart's a little small.
When I asked Lincoln to go put away the new package of toilet paper, this is what he did.
Grammy and Papa came! They arrived on the 21st. They brought this chair that we accidentally left at their house when we moved to Virginia (almost 2 years ago!). Bennett loves it.
Derick got tickets for us to go to a VTech basketball game. Grammy stayed home with Bennett and the rest of us went. It was fun.
Derick wanted to get some Tshirts from Goodwill to make a Virginia Tech quilt. The boys, for some reason, thought the shirts were super cool.
We went to see Santa when we were at the mall. It wasn't a planned thing, but when we saw Santa, I asked LIncoln if he wanted to see him, and he said yes. And when Lincoln agrees to something like that, you go with it. They won't let you take your own pictures (we need a Bass Pro!) but Derick snuck these in from a distance. Santa was impressed with Lincoln and said to Papa, "That is one sharp young man." How cute.
His new favorite thing: pulling all of the books off of the shelf.
Playing outside.
Thanksgiving! 11/28/13. Derick cooked our turkey on the grill this year. It was amazing! I'm pretty sure we will always do it that way in the future.
We set up our Christmas tree on Thanksgiving night. Thanksgiving was late this year, so we couldn't wait! Since it was Bennett's first time, he was amazed by everything and LOVED looking at the lights. Lincoln was super excited, too. Lincoln was pretty disappointed when we told him that we weren't going to set up the train around the tree this year, but it's a very old train, and Bennett wouldn't have treated it very well!
We have a giant advent stocking, and Lincoln put it on his head like a hat. It's a really bad picture, but you can get the idea.
To round off the month of November, we celebrated Bennett's first birthday! I'll do that in a separate post.
