last night's prayer

We've been working really hard to get Lincoln to say his own prayers (with help, of course) because he never has wanted to. I think some of the words, such as "Heavenly" throw him off because they're hard. So we've made it simpler and he's starting to get better.

Last night, after saying that he was thankful for daddy, he said, "Thank You for Woody and Buzz."

At least he was thinking up his own prayer, right? :-)

We are lucky to have an end-unit townhouse, so it makes our yard feel huge. We take advantage of that space and pull of Lincoln's soccer goal.

meet "Fish"

Lincoln transitioned to a twin bed a few weeks ago. Derick and I were both scared of how that would go. We thought that he would be one to constantly get up out of his bed. Derick had this {great?} idea to bribe Lincoln (yes, we bribe Lincoln sometimes...don't judge :-)) with a fish, because he loves fish. Derick and I were both thinking that we could get the cheap 13 cent goldfish, put them in a bowl, and be out of the store for an inexpensive price. Little did we know that having fish is a little bit more complicated. Apparently the only ones that you can keep in a bowl are Betta fish. All of the rest need more space, heated water, filters, etc. Long story short, we didn't want to buy an expensive tank or anything, so we ended up getting the bowl, the Betta, food, rocks, a plant and some kind of water purifier. $24 later, we were out the door. *Sigh* We kept asking Lincoln what he wanted to name his fish, and we offered suggestions, but he just kept saying "Fish." So that's it's name. Fish.

So do you want to know if the bribe worked? Well, Lincoln's transition to a bigger bed was pretty seamless, and he rarely gets out of bed. It has been great. Whether that was due to the fish or not, I don't know. On one hand, I like to think that it wasn't because of the fish and that Lincoln is just such a good boy. On the other hand, I want to think that it was the fish, so that I feel like $24 was worth it. But, I guess I don't really care! I'm just glad that he's sleeping well.

Lincoln's birthday, part 3

Lincoln looked so handsome for church that day! He had just grown out of basically all of his church clothes, so he got new ones and they didn't disappoint. The poor kid was so disappointed that he didn't get to go to nursery. I'm just glad that he likes it now. Of course, he wouldn't pose for pictures, so we got what we could.

Lincoln's birthday, part 2

Derick and I felt like it was Christmas. We were so excited for Lincoln to wake up and see his train table! We had stake conference at 10 that day, instead of normal church at 9, so we were thankful for the extra hour that allowed us to give him his gift in the morning and let him play with it for a bit. Lincoln came down the stairs, saw the table, and was thrilled! It was so fun. If you recall the crazy day we had before, you'll remember that Derick cut his finger while setting up the train table. Because of that, we just had to set up a very basic loop of track and wait to make it more detailed which was kind of a bummer, but Lincoln didn't care!

Lincoln's birthday, part 1

Well, I am more than 2 weeks late, but better late than never. Due to timing issues, Lincoln got to open his presents from Grammy and Papa while they watched him over Skype (such a wonderful thing!) the night before his bday. They gave him a set of animal puppets (lion, giraffe, elephant, tiger) and they are so soft and cuddly! He sleeps with at least one of them every night. They also gave him some train toys for the bathtub. He was thrilled about those! Thanks, Grammy and Papa for such fun presents!

In case you are wondering why Lincoln doesn't have clothes on, it's because he was about to have a bath. We kind of timed it that way, so that he could play with his new train toys in the tub that night.
