my sweet boy

This is just a picture that I love of Lincoln. He is such a sweet, good (for his age...ha!) boy!!

carving pumpkins

In 2010, Lincoln loved the insides of the pumpkin and ate them the whole time we carved.
In 2011, he didn't want to have anything to do with them.
This year, we were curious to see which way he'd be. He didn't want to have anything to do with them again. *sigh*
But we still had fun.
We ended up going super traditional with our carvings. Derick tried to do a cool one with a template, but the pumpkin was so huge and thick, that the little carving knife couldn't go deep enough to get a good cut. So he pulled out a regular knife and just made a face. Lincoln and I worked on his little pumpkin.

Family Pictures

Our friend, Neely, took some family pictures for us to use for our Christmas cards. She did a great job!

clever

We have this stool for Lincoln to use to wash his hands in the bathroom and/or use the toilet. Lately I've been finding it around the house in various places. It's cute to see him figuring out how to do/get things for himself.
One example: Derick and I got a new bed. It's rather tall. Lincoln's solution to getting on our bed? The stool.

puddles

Lincoln loves to splash in puddles of water and does it whenever he sees one. He's a total boy.

bus ride

October 4
For a little preschool field trip, we took a city bus ride to Kroger (grocery store) and had a little scavenger hunt in the store. This kids were so excited to ride on the bus. I need to get pictures from my friend of Lincoln and I on the bus, but here are some of the kids waiting to get on for each of the two ways.
Lincoln, Hannah, Carter, Heber, Heidi.
Carter is actually the only one in Lincoln's regular preschool group that was able to make it that day. We have two groups and combine for parties and field trips.

painting pumpkins

When we were in Ohio, Lincoln loved all of the little pumpkins that Mila and Emmitt had painted. I decided to get some for him, too. However, I had a heck of a time finding some. For some reason, the stores in our area did not have them! Nowhere! Finally, I found a few at one of our grocery stores. Lincoln had fun painting them and was excited to "be like Mila and Emmitt."

hospital visit

Lincoln had had a cold for a couple of days. On this day, the cough developed. He seemed fine when he went to bed and was breathing ok, but in the middle of the night, he woke up coughing pretty bad and couldn't really breathe. I had to hurry to set up his breathing machine and give him a treatment while Derick was patting his back and trying to calm him down. It was so scary. I hate asthma!! The treatment helped immediately, but we took him in to the ER to make sure that his oxygen level was ok, etc. We were there for an hour or two and everything was fine, thankfully! Lincoln was such a trooper too, especially considering it was like 2 a.m.  I hate when my little buddy gets so sick.
Trying to stay entertained...

blocks

Lincoln loves playing with these blocks lately. He puts them all in a row and makes a "road" for his cars.

hayride

October 19. We went to a little Fall carnival at our mall. We didn't realize how cold it was going to be outside, so when we got there, we ended up just doing the little tractor hay ride around the parking lot, and then heading inside. Lincoln enjoyed the ride, though!

TP tower

Lincoln was helping me do some chores around the house. I asked him to help by putting some toilet paper under each bathroom sink, which he normally does really well. After a few minutes, he asked me to "come look." When I walked in the bathroom, this is what I saw. I couldn't help but laugh, and he was so proud of himself.

"How 'bout..."

Today Lincoln was asking me if he could watch a movie. I asked him what movie he wanted and he said, "Cars." Being so incredibly sick of this movie, I told him to choose something else. He then said, "How 'bout Cars 2?" I'm so glad that he really ventured out for that second choice.

best friend.

Lincoln turned to me as we were reading books tonight and said, "You're my best friend." Talk about melting my heart. He told Derick the same thing a couple of nights ago, so it wasn't just for me, but that's ok. I still loved it!

Home Depot Workshop

On October 6th, before General Conference (because it starts at noon here, for all of you back West) we headed over to the Home Depot nearby to do their little kids workshop. They were making fire trucks that day, so I knew Lincoln would like it, but little did I know that they had a whole event planned that day! They had actual fire trucks, free food, a little pumpkin patch, balloons, etc. It was so much fun! We started out by building and painting Lincoln's truck. He was then able to go into the little pumpkin patch and choose a pumpkin to paint. He also got to go inside a fire truck and got a hat and some other little things from the firemen. It was a fun little outing! Plus, I couldn't get enough of how cute Lincoln looked in his little apron.
