busy weekend and a big new toy

We had a yard sale this last weekend. Derick's parents were able to get rid of quite a bit of stuff. Lincoln was thrilled with the fact that he got to be outside a ton.

Derick's dad had an old dune buggy for sale. I took Lincoln down to see it and he thought it was so cool to be able to "drive" the car.

Hanging out with Daddy. Derick was traumatized by Lincoln wanting to play with the pearl necklaces that you see around his neck. I was like, "Hey, whatever keeps him entertained!"

3 Generations.

The coolest part of the weekend was getting this big play set. We had been wanting to get one to add to the fun things for Lincoln to do outside. A couple of weeks ago when we went yard-saling, we were looking for something like this, but didn't find anything. During the drive, we happened to drive by a house that had one sitting in the front yard. I jokingly make a comment about how we should see if we could buy it from the owners. Derick's dad decided to go and ask them about it because it looked like it hadn't been played on recently. It turned out that they were wanting to get rid of it and weren't sure what to do with it. They took down our name and number and said they would call us. On Saturday (2 weeks later) they called. They not only said that we could have it, but they said they would give it to us for FREE! Plus, they were going to deliver it! How amazingly nice is that???? People just don't do things like that anymore. And here's the kicker....their son that they bought if for is named Lincoln! How crazy is that? So anyway, we got an amazing, FREE yard toy for Lincoln to play on and he loves it. Awesome.

Last Sunday and a few randoms

We had a ridiculous Sunday last week. And it's all due to us being unprepared. We sure learned our lesson. We were going to go to church at a branch where Derick's parents are serving a mission. It's about 1/2 hour away. The gas gage on our car is broken, so we just go by how many miles we have used until we can get it fixed. Well, a cable on the engine came loose and after we fixed it, the number of miles started over because the computer reset. We thought that we had more gas than we did. I bet you know what's coming.....yep, we ran out of gas. In the middle of nowhere.

So anyway, we had to call the church building to get ahold of Derick's parents (because they weren't answering their cell phones) and have them come to get us. Someone at the church had some gas that we used. By this time, it was Lincoln's nap time, and he was getting grouchy. We had to turn around to go home once we got the gas, so we didn't even get to go to church (We would have only been able to go to the first hour anyway, but that's the most important part).

We definitely learned our lesson. We needed to be more prepared with gas. And we will from now on.

It wasn't funny at the time....but it kind of is now. Ha ha.

Derick got this John Deere toy tractor (it actually has a motor and runs) for Lincoln at Habitat for Humanity for $10. Lincoln can't drive it on his own yet, but he sure loves sitting in it and pretending.

fun family day

Yesterday, we got to drive down to the valley and meet up with my brother and sis-in-law Krystal, and we finally got to meet Graham! He is the most precious little guy. Here is Lincoln meeting his cousin (the only other one on my side of the family). Lincoln was pretty excited and was so cute with Graham b/c he somehow knew that he needed to be careful and gentle with him.

This picture is totally blurry, but it shows how Lincoln just kept pointing at Graham all day.

We all went to Peter Piper for the lunch buffet. Some of you might think that it's gross, but I love cardboard pizza and Derick and I have always loved that place. Lincoln rode the little carousel with Aunt Christie.

And then we went to a splash pad with everyone. I was SO excited to take Lincoln. Besides his sandbox, the poor kid hasn't really had anything fun to do for a few weeks. The weather in Phx on Tuesday was amazing...like 80 degrees. So the water actually turned out to be kind of cold, but Lincoln and Graham didn't seem to mind!

Lincoln didn't know what to think at first...

...but then he went nuts and had SO MUCH FUN! I couldn't even get good pictures of his face because he was just running around the whole time.

This tunnel thingy was his favorite. He kept going through it...

...and back...

...and through it again. Just by this picture you can see the momentum that he had. He was pretty much running.

Loving it. Thankfully I found a splash park in Prescott Valley, not too far from us so we can go while we are up here too.

Saturday

I am so excited! We are staying with Derick's parents right now in Prescott while we are in limbo, and I wanted some outdoor things for Lincoln to do so badly. The sandbox turned out great. And between Easter gifts from the Easter Bunny and Grammy and Papa, Lincoln already had plenty of sand toys to put in it.

I think that we are just going to add a couple of boards to the corners of the sand box to make some seats, but for now, sitting right in the sand works just great!

Here is Lincoln sitting on the porch swing, eating grapes, and watching Daddy and Papa make the sand box. This picture makes him look so much older.

At another time during the day, we needed to go inside but Lincoln didn't want to. So for a few minutes, we played a game through the screen door and made silly faces at each other. I was inside and Lincoln was outside. These pictures made me laugh out loud.

On Friday and Saturday, we also went to a bunch of yard sales. I am pretty pleased with what we found.

1. An animal farm toy for Lincoln. $1.

2. A picture frame. $1.

3. Chairs. $6. {The plan is to reupholster them at some point. I won't be using them yet, but I couldn't pass up $6 chairs! Oh, and these look like they could be used for dining or a sitting room, so I am happy with the versatility. We will see someday what they end up being used for.}

4. A rotary cutter for fabric/quilting. It was brand-new in the package with a price of $16.99. We got it for 25 cents.

I love yard sales.

slowly catching up!

On my blogging, that is. I have been slacking...kind of. Moving is a ton of work. And I have had a bunch of other things to do. Anyway, I will try to do better.

When we first arrived in Arizona, we went to St. David to visit some of Derick's family.

Debbie and Denny have a fun house and amazing yard. Lincoln was in heaven with all the space and fun things to do!

He seriously just wanted to explore outside the whole time.

Our nephew, David, left on his mission this week. We are so excited for him. Lincoln loves his cousin.

Lincoln got to ride Goldie. He loves animals.

We also got to drive to New Mexico to see Steven, Dawn Sheree and Garth and Colt. It was so fun to see them.

Lincoln had so much fun with some other little boys his size. He doesn't get to be around other kids very often and he just loves it when he does.

AZ

We made it to AZ. We have been visiting family for the last week. We have lots going on and are making some new future plans (more on that later).

I am sure I have tons of pictures and things to post about, but for now I just have a couple.

Derick left with the truck on Friday and I flew down with Lincoln on Saturday. I flew to Tucson, so I had to have a layover in Vegas. Thankfully both flights were short and he was good for them.

And it's a good thing that Derick left when he did, because this is what we woke up to on Saturday!
