This is Lincoln's first-ever Christmas tree, but it's also our first "good" Christmas tree. For the last 3 Christmases, we have just had a little dinky 2-footer. We bought our new one last year after Christmas at half price, and we couldn't wait to set it up. We were going to wait until the day after Thanksgiving, but last Saturday we had the whole day together and I decided that I just wanted it up. I was too excited!
Derick and I set up the tree while Lincoln was taking a nap. When he woke up, we were so excited to have him come out and see it. We had him crawl out into the living room. Here is the cute little guy peeking around the corner at us.
Here he is noticing the tree. Such a sweet face.
He honestly didn't seem to care about it all that much at first. Derick and I were desperately trying to get him to pay attention to it (we should have just been thankful that he didn't care, huh?).
Anyway, after just a couple of minutes, he decided that it was really cool and made his way over.
At first, he just ate one of the branches.
Then, he decided that he wanted an ornament. I tried to put some that I thought he would like (and that were kid-friendly) towards to bottom. But he didn't want one of my soft, plush, baby-friendly ornaments.
He had to have a shiny ball. Of course. Finally he reached far enough and just ripped it right off the tree. Thank goodness this one is plastic.
Then he noticed the tree skirt and all of the awesome pom-poms on it. Yes, he is lifting it off the ground with his mouth right here.
Lincoln now loves the tree, but pays the most attention when it's lit up. He is so fun and we love his curiosity. So far we are loving our new tree. I am busy adding other decor to the house! Pillows and a banner are in the works, and I just hung the stockings this morning! I love Christmas!

Ha ha so cute! I have to make kid friendly ornaments this year too. Last year we didn't even put a tree up because we went out of town. Ha ha but this year I'm pretty sure I will catch Collin climbing halfway up the tree...if he doesn't pull it to the ground first. Ha ha bye bye lass ornaments and metal hooks! ;)
I LOVE Lincoln's expression when he first sees the tree. He's like "what the?"
By the way that's supposed to say glass ornaments. ;)
Oh my gosh how cute! You are such a good mom - all ready with the tree and decorations... BTW I love his cheeks!
Oh, so cute! This makes me so excited to put up our christmas tree! We are putting it up as soon as we get back home after thanksgiving! Although I am a little nervous about it this year because madden will be able to reach the entire bottom half of the tree...so we're probably going to have a very bare bottom half and then all our ornaments will be crammed up at the top where Madden can't get to them :)
Good memories being made!! You guys are so cute. :-)
1st Christmas's are the best. He is looking way too grown up. Love him laying on his back under the tree watching the lights. Derick and I used to spend hours doing that. Oh the memories!
I love it! Cute! I love his smile while he's under the tree!
