Bennett

Bennett Allen Maggard
November 30, 2012
6:28 pm
8 pounds, 13 ounces
22 inches

I had a Dr. appt on the 27th and the doctor stripped my membranes. She had also been advising me to get induced, since Lincoln was so big and since my body didn't really go into labor with Lincoln, even after my water broke. I wasn't sure if I wanted to be induced or not, but during this appt on the 27th, Derick and I decided to go for it and we set the appt for the 30th. After the appt that day, I started to contract. I contracted off and on for the next couple of days. I thought for sure that I would go into the hospital earlier, but didn't and we made it to Friday the 30th.

{side notes: Derick's parents got here on Wednesday the 28th. Lincoln had a bad asthma attack that night, and we were hesitant to keep our induction appt. But due to all of my contracting, etc. we felt that we needed to keep it. Derick's mom dealt with Derick's asthma when he was little, so we knew Lincoln would be taken care of. Thankfully, he got much better before we had to go in on Friday.}

Back to the birth...
We got to the hospital just before 7:00 am. I immediately got hooked up to the IV, etc. Once my doctor (Dr. Palmer) got there, she said that she didn't know if they'd have to induce because I was already contracting. They then treating me with antibiotics for Group B strep (I had it this time but not with LIncoln) and had to wait a couple of hours before they could proceed to break my water). At this point in time, I was dilated 3 cm and was 50% effaced.

Timeline for the rest of the day:
10:00- broke my water
somewhere in here they started the pitocin because my contractions weren't strong. It was the same with Lincoln.
3:30 pm- only 5 cm along, got epidural
4:30- 6 cm
6:00- 9 cm and 100% effaced
6:28- he came!

I had been so uncomfortable and discouraged for much of the day because the process was so slow. It felt like it took forever!!! When he finally came I was so happy and relieved.

We love out little man so much!!!!

Waiting in the lobby until everything from the birth was cleaned up. Wearing his "big brother" shirt. He was SOOO excited to meet his little brother!

I'm laughing that Meagan already commented because last night we were both just saying that we were going to have to call and see where the pictures were! Welcome to the world little Bennett Allen! I love his name and am impressed with how well Lincoln is doing with him already! Happy Birthday little buddy. :)

1. It really isn't fair how cute you look in the hospital after giving birth. I remember saying the same thing when you had Lincoln.

2. I love that you have big babies but they look so itty bitty when Derick holds them. So sweet!

3. Twins! Bennett and Lincoln are twins I tell ya!

4. Congrats guys! :)
