My friend, Jenny, told me that her mom needed people to take apples from their apple tree. They had more than they knew what to do with. I was ecstatic, to say the least. We went over one afternoon and filled up one laundry basket and two brown grocery bags with Granny Smith apples. Thanks, Jenns, for letting me know!!!
During the last two days, I (along with Derick's mom...I couldn't have done it all without her!) sliced, cooked, and canned apples. We ended up with 14 jars of apple pie filling, 12 jars of apple sauce, and 12 jars of apple butter. YUM!!! It was a TON of work, but well worth it!

I really am addicted to the look of canned food! I love it. I just wish I did it more. Those look soooo yummy. Have you canned meat before? Chicken is the easiest thing in the world to can.
Fabulous!
Holy cow, you really have been busy! I'm so glad you posted about buying apples so I could let you know about my mom's overload. I'm glad someone got use out of them beside the javelinas that always break into our yard and eat them!
